I came to this field over 25 years ago, when I started my own journey to recovery. I felt that my lived experience would be greatly beneficial for others struggling to find new ways of being. I ultimately believe we all want to be our best selves, and have the capacity for real change. I hope I can be a catalyst for you!
My strengths-based approach integrates many components of positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and person-centered therapy to guide recovery on the individual, family, and communal levels. Modern psychology often adheres to a medical model; aiming to reduce symptoms. While this is valuable, the foundation of psychology is grounded in maximizing an individual's inherent strengths. Thus, I work to utilize your unique personal strengths to help you reach your fullest potential.
I am also a trauma informed psychotherapist trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR [Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing]. I have supported clients of incredibly diverse racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds, ages 5-75+.
My therapeutic style is a balance of insight and action. I listen thoughtfully, while asking appropriate questions. From there, I can tailor our sessions to best fit your needs. With my education, training, and life experience, my ideal client is one who is motivated to make change, is willing to experience challenge, and ultimately grow beyond their current limitations.
I hope to hear from you soon.
